It's common to see school children wear the essentials of a school uniform, usually a blouse, pinafore, tie and belt for girls; and a shirt, trousers, tie and belt for boys. I presume this has continued since the colonial times. And this habit shows no signs of abatement. Wonder why?!

Yes, a strict rule does discipline students. But it does cause discomfort on a hot day. Woolen blazers add to the uneasiness. Especially in a tropical country like India where the temperature is on the rise. Why can't we opt for a more comfortable uniform? This thought crossed my mind, and it's quite feasible, if you ask me.

Yes, it looked like military training :-)
Lucky me, I went to Government school, dint have all these pain.
