In my opinion, all the Indian literature of the pre and post-Independance times still hold relevance even today. Maybe we would not have another Partition, but the other stories told reflects our present culture. In metropolitan cities and in rural areas. I would not have probably included metropolitan cities. But when a friend introduced his friend to me, adding that they were from the same community and hence the close relationship, i had to change my view.

Be it casteism, the zamindari system, the rich-poor divide, atrocities against women; it's all there. It will take many more years to transform ourselves.

Transformation is a long way to go..
To be realistic, we should expect some baby steps in that issues with caste/class divides
